Dental Implants

Preserving Smiles for Lifelong Happiness

What are

Dental Implants?

Dental implants are not the same as dentures. They are artificial tooth roots which fuse to your natural jaw bone and are permanently in place for replacement teeth. They are an effective long term solution to chronic dental issues and missing teeth and can be done to just one or many teeth depending on your individual needs. Dental implants can last between 10-20 years depending on the stress of the mouth they are implanted in.

Dental implants allow you to enjoy your mouth and teeth just as you would your natural set- eating, talking, whistling, etc., without having to worry about slippage or movement as you would with dentures. Call our office today if you have any questions about getting your own dental implants.

Dental implant procedure

As with most common dental procedures, you will receive a local anesthetic to numb the area where the implants will be inserted. You will be awake during the surgery, but with the numbing agent should feel little to no discomfort. The bone where the implant is placed has very little pain-sensing nerves. Getting an implant does require the dentist to make small incisions to your gums, but recovery should only last about 7 days, and discomfort should decrease each day.
